Under the mesquite was a novel about how a young adolescent named Lupita
suffered with family problems all throughout high school. It demonstrates how Lupita being the oldest and had to mature and stop being a little girl because 7 more siblings depended of her. She had to take charge of her siblings while her mother was fighting cancer. The author demonstrates how no matter what circumstances life puts us through we have to pull through because others depend of us.
I can deeply relate to the situation this character was put in. Throughout unfortunate life circumstances I had to learn how to let go of my childhood and become the mature person I am now. Like the main character Lupita in under the mesquite I as well have been in charge and have to take care of my siblings and be strong for them and b like a mother to them. As well as acting is one of my passions and I myself has found acting as an escape to my problems.
This book really fascinated me. My favorite part was when Lupita confessed that the only way she would really get all her sadness out of her was by acting, that the only escape of her ongoing problems at home where by acting.
I would highly recommend this book to people who like reading poem format books. As well as to individuals who are going through rough times in their life so they can understand that no matter what there is always an escape to our problems.
