The book "Border Town" by Malin Alegria is about a teenager named Fabiola Garza, who does not want a quinceanera for her 15th birthday, instead, she wants to travel to New York City. Every time she would make plans to go there, something would always get in the way of that happening. Then her sister, Alexis, and her friend, Milo, get her into something that she wishes never would have happened...a Quince challenge.
In this story, I can relate to the character Fabiola Garza, because things sometimes never go as planned for me. I have felt some of the same feelings that this character has felt. Sometimes family members tend to go a little overboard, like Fabiola's sister and her grandmother.
In my opinion, this story is written exceptionally well. There are some good parts, and there are some bad parts, but no matter what, I could not keep my eyes off of the book. Though, I do find it weird where she literally dances with the devil. Which is also a part of the book that really interested me.
I recommend this book to the readers that look for stories with all types of drama in them. "Border Town" has so many twists in emotions that all drama readers will be dizzy for more.
