Fabiola Garza, Fabi to friends, is a high school student who lives in the too small Valley. Her family owns a restaurant and she loves her cousin Santiago, no matter how chiflado he can be. When her younger sister finally begins to attend high school, Fabi is excited, ready to show
Alexis the do’s and don’ts. Once at high school, Alexis ditches her sister for the cool, popular, rich, and snotty kids. What’s worse, Alexis falls for the jerk- oops I mean jock Dex Andrews.
Fabi warns her sister to stay away from him but she doesn’t listen. One night the cook from the restaurant is mugged and near-death. They call the police but somehow the blame falls on Santiago when in reality it was Dex and his friends. No one believes Fabi even though Dex was bragging about mugging immigrants, not even her sister. It is up to her to figure out a way for everyone to see the truth and to save Santiago from being judged to 10 years of jail by the judge, no other than Dex’s grandfather.
I really enjoyed the story. I found it very interesting and I really loved how they mention the Valley multiple times. How her best friend lives in McAllen and how they go shopping over there.
