Review submitted by Olivia Salazar...

Eleanor & Park is about two teenagers who have a very original and unique love story. Eleanor is a new student who sticks out of the crowd in school, and Park is a student who tries his best to blend in and not be different. When these two meet it isn’t in the nicest way to meet someone on the bus, but the first encounter gives them a reason to be next to each other. These two run into obstacles trying to be friends because they both know that if they are friends many people will have things to say.

I can relate to both characters in little ways. I am very fond of music so I can relate to Park, and I tend to hide a part of myself from everyone else just as Eleanor does.

I truly liked this book because it had both the point of view of Eleanor & Park, so it gives the reader an insight of how they both are thinking about the situations. My favorite part of the book is when they are both kind of reading the comic books on the bus. I wish I could change the ending just a bit, but in a way no since it is the perfect way to end a first love.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about a love story with a twist.

Shadow and Bone is about a girl named Alina Starkov who spent her life being unseen, unimportant, and ordinary. Alina lives in a nation called Ravka which has been torn into two parts due to the Shadow Fold that is right in the middle of the gap. However, when her best friend and other soldiers are attacked she soon discovers that she is more than ordinary. Alina possess a gift that can possibly save her nation from the monsters that are inside the Fold.

Who I can relate to in the book, Shadow and Bone, is the character David. Just like David I am the type of person who focuses on my work at times to the point where I am oblivious. I can get so caught up in what I am doing that I don’t hear or know when a person is trying to get my attention.

I enjoyed reading Shadow and Bone because it made me wonder who to trust, and wanting to know more about the world the story takes place in. My favorite part of the book is during the ball because so many questions popped up which left me reading page after page. If I could change something in the book it would be how the main character Alina’s personality develops towards the end of the book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about stories that take place in different worlds.

Review submitted by Samantha Perez...

Imagine waking up with no memory of you past the only thing you have to remember is your own name, just your first name and waking up in a new place.  In “Maze Runner” Thomas wakes up in an elevator and can only remember his name. He can't remember anything else-where he came from or who his parents were or what happened before he woke up. When he
gets out of the elevator he finds himself in the glade. The other “gladers” are
like Thomas-they have no memory of their life before entering the glade.  There is a huge maze that surrounds the glade, and each day the “gladers” try to solve the mystery of the maze to see if there is any way out of the glade. After Thomas arrives, the first girl appears and just before collapsing says: "everything will change." Thomas works with the other “gladers”trying to solve the mystery of the maze, the girls dire message and to remember his life before entering this strange new world.

The “Maze Runner” is a good book to read the chapter are short and quick to get by in a sunny game. The first few chapter of the book start of slow once getting through the chapter is like a roller coaster ride. I do not really see myself as any of the character maybe like Thomas when he first step out of the elevator asking question anddetermine to find a way out of the Glade. It’s very interesting I recommend
everyone to read the book and watch the movie afterward.

Review submitted by Kerri Aguilar...

Eleanor and Park is an original love story between an awkward girl and quiet boy. They met on the school bus and shared a seat that would bind the two for the entire course of the year. They’re total opposites, coming from families with completely different backgrounds. Eleanor, who comes from a household filled with hostility and apprehension, only wants to live out her school days in peace and get away from her difficult life, but she’s not exactly a girl who can fit in and abide by the crowd. Park, the boy who lives in his brother’s shadow and tries to stay in good with the popular kids, wants more than anything to finish high school without having to worry about looking over his shoulder.

Park has nothing in common with Eleanor, but there’s something about her that captures his interest. She’s an oddball, from her crazy red curls to her boyish clothes. He knows nothing about her, except that she’s taking a linking to his music and comic books.

Eleanor doesn’t know what to think of the boy she sits next to on the bus. He was the only person to offer her a seat when she got on the bus to her new school, although not so kindly. But he does these small things, things that make her slowly feel more at ease sitting next to him on a bus that leads her from one hell to another.

Book review by Maria Blanco...

When Thomas wakes up in a box he cant remember anything , only his name . When the door opens Thomas realizes that he's not alone , he's with a group of teens called the gladers ,that cant remember anything either . Thomas will try to help them survive and escape the maze.

The main characters are Thomas and the gladiers. The main character ( Thomas ) had
to help the gladiers survive the maze. One of favorite adventures Thomas had was
when he but his life at risk to save Alby .  My favorite character is Thomas because
he's willing to risk his life to save someone else , I find it admirable.

I couldn’t relate to any of the story . I haven’t done or felt any of things the characters did.

I really liked the book . My favorite part of the book was when Teresa arrive because all the boys were really freak out but also excited. I liked the whole book so I don’t have a least favorite part .  If I could change something in the book I would change Teresas name. For a better name like “ Maria” .

I would really recommend this book . I would recommend this book to someone that likes mystery books.

The Maze Runner is about a group of teenage boys who are living
at a place called the Glade. Outside the Glade there is a Maze and in that Maze there are monsters called Grievers. Thomas is sent to the Glade, but the day after he arrives a girl, Teresa, is also sent to the Glade. There is something different about the Maze, and Thomas, Teresa, Newt, Minho, Chuck, and Alby, are all trying to help the rest of the Gladers figure out a way to get through and out of the Maze.

I think I could relate to Thomas in some ways. Thomas wants to help his friends and doesn’t want to give up until he solves their problem.

I enjoyed reading the book. I felt like I could picture everything that was going on in the book and it was very intriguing. My favorite part of the book was when each of the characters revealed their fragments of memories from the Changing. I also liked the part where they finally figured out the puzzle to the Maze and were trying to escape.

I would recommend this book to everyone. It is an awesome book and well written. Anyone who enjoys a thriller or sci-fi related books would not mind reading this one.

The Maze Runner is about a teenager named Thomas who wakes up in a strange place with no memory but his name. Thomas is surrounded by a group of other teenage boys, who also have no memory, with a million questions running though his mind such as to where they are and why they were sent to this place the boys call the Glade. These group of boys end up running into many problems when everything starts to unfold. They realized that nothing is going to be the same again when their constant structure start to go out of order.

I couldn’t relate to any of the characters in the book completely, but I feel that I most relate to Newt. I can relate to Newt the most in the ways that he wants to keep order in the Glade, and in how much he cares about his friend.

I really enjoyed reading the Maze Runner. It had me constantly wanting to know what happens next and looking for the answer that Thomas is looking for. My favorite part of the book is when they are trying to find the pattern to how to solve the maze because so many things are happening at once. I wouldn’t change the ending since the events that happen in the end were very interesting and because I believe that everything that happened has a purpose.

I would recommend this book to anyone who like survival books and for those who like to read about a different kind of world experience.

The Fault In Our Stars was a love story about two teenagers with caner who meet at Support Group and fall in love as they spend time with each other. The main characters were Hazel and Augustus. Augustus started liking Hazel the first time he saw her at Support Group and they spend lots of time together. Augustus took long to tell Hazel that his cancer had come back, but when she finds out, she tries to spend as much time as she possibly can with him, and he soon dies a little later. My favorite character were both Hazel and Augustus because even though they had a struggling life, they managed to make the best out of it. I don’t think I can relate to the characters in any way. I liked the book and my favorite part was when Hazel and Augustus traveled to Amsterdam and spent time with each other until she realized he was really sick. The characters were in love with each other and it was nice to see them have fun even though they had cancer. I would recommend this book to a person who loves romance and because the book was not that long and it didn’t bore me.

The story was about two cancer survivors who meet at a support group and fell in love. Throughout the book the main characters, Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters, spend a lot of time with each other. They ran into many problems since both are cancer survivors. One problem in particular that has nothing to do with the cancer is the fact that they both want to know what happens to the characters at the end of An Imperial Affliction by Van Houten. Later, they used Augustus Waters only Wish that all cancer victims get to go to see Van Houten in Amsterdam. Once there they encountered another problem. After finding out the true nature of the author that created the book that they both love, they decided Van Houten was not worth their time.

My favorite characters are Hazel and Gus. I like that they are comfortable with each other. Their relationship is amazing and it is fun to watch them both talk to each other. They make me laugh so much especially in the part where they arrange a pre-funeral. I know I wasn’t supposed to laugh given the situation but the way that they gave the eulogy was funny.

I can relate to Hazel and Gus in the fact that we love to read. I understand why they both think about what will happen after they die because I also have the same thoughts to and their view of the world is similar to mine.

I love the book. I didn’t think I would love it this much since the situation is real. I thought it was going to be one of those lame realistic books when a friend told me about it last year so I didn’t bother with it, although, I’m glad that I was able to read it for the Book Club. My favorite part is when Hazel and Gus are together which is more than half of the book. I won’t say my least favorite part because I don’t want to spoil the book but if I were to change anything in the book it would be if they both died and were buried together. I think that would have been romantic but that is just me.

I would recommend this book to anybody who would like to get a laugh, cry, or just wants to read a well written book.
